Film The South (1988) by Argentinean director Fernando Ezequiel Solanas awarded by the audience as the most liked and Best Director Award in Cannes Film Festival was screened in the extent of “Student Trilogy in Cinema”. Film concentrates on the return from exile accompanied by the music of Astor Piazzola while narrating Argentina’s streets and the conditions of the time.
The film adorned with Argentinean streets, tango, love and internal feuds, develops around the lead Floreal. Floreal finds out that nothing remained the same since he returned from the exile, wandering through the streets dreaming of his friend El Negro.
Each line in the film causes a question mark and a smile. The South is an example of the current magical realism with the unique combination of dance and music.
