Istanbul University takes place in “Emerging Economies Rankings”.
According to Anadolu Agency news; weekly magazine about higher education in England, Times Higher Education (THE) published “BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings” for the second time.
Lead by China’s Peking and Tsinghua Unıversity, in the rankings, 8 universities are from Turkey. As one of 8 universities, Istanbul University listed as 51th in “Top 100 Unıversities”. In the rankings, with emerging 17 economies, “BRICS” nations of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa universities are covered.
Editor of THE magazine, Phil Baty “Turkey took its place among the countries which show strong performance this year. While the increase in big expenses for the research in Turkey in the last 10 years affected the rankings, the increase in the competition in the apportioning of the fund, assigned for the universities, helped to raise the standards” says in his statement about Turkey’s place in the list.
