Women’s Research Education Center (KSAUM) Director, Associate Professor Doctor Sevgi Uçan Çubukçu gave a presentation on the subject of “Definition, Concept and Experince on Violence Against Women”. She emphasized that patriarchal society is the cause of violence againt women. She stated that their aim has been to raise an awareness about positive discrimination that man put forward to woman. She said:“Beyond being born as males or females, some concepts lead us to sexism and violence against women.”

After Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevgi Uçan Çubukçu’s speech, KSAUM Director Associate Professor Doctor Aynur Soydan Erdemir and Assistant Professor Doctor Berrin Oktay Yılmaz gave presentations on “The Fight History of Violence Against Women” and “National and International Regulations in the Fight of Violence Against Women” successively.

ABOUT KSAUM (Women’s Research Education Center): Established primarily in Istanbul University in Turkey, Women’s Studies Center is located under Rectorate. The Center is an example for the recently spreading Women’s Studies Centers in Turkey. The aim of the center include; research related to the problems faced by women in education, health, law, politics, and employment; support of such researches, provide and empower coordination.
