Held at IU Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing Prof. Dr. Perihan Velioğlu Lecture Hall, the event started with speech from IU Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing Dean Prof. Dr. Nezihe Kızılkaya Beji. Prof. Dr. Beji said that Fahrünnisa Seden was a pioneer for upgrading education of nursing in our country, making education of nursing reach university level to give a professional identity to the occupation. In this event, Prof. Dr. Beji thanked everyone who contributed to organization while she stated that they would understand the efforts for the occupation of nursing better.
Florence Nightingale Nursing Schools and Hospitals Association Chairman of Board Prof. Dr. Özdem Anğ said that in the events like this, memories are refreshed and togetherness is remembered. Prof. Dr. Anğ ended his speech by saying: “We can account Fahrünnisa Seden as the founder of this faculty of nursing. There are so many people’s effort in building this faculty. But we especially owe to Fahrünnisa Seden for this faculty. Fahrünnisa Seden as someone who came from this occupation is the person who thought nursing as a high education. She waited exactly sixteen years to make this idea come true. This path she insistently walks on is a demanding progress.”
Giving information about Florence Nightingale Nursing Schools and Hospitals Association, Ass. Prof. Dr. Selva Şentürk talked about Fahrünnisa Seden.
Later in the program, nurses who attends to the event Nur Camat, Emel Berkay, Şehvar Çağlayan, Güler Aksoy, Nevin Kanan and İnci Moralı Erefe told their memories about Seden. Program ended with Necmettin Özçelik’s presentation ‘Nursing from Past to Future’.
