AJANS UNIVERSITE – Ayşenur FİDAN, İrem YENİCELER
Translated by Begüm ERGİNBAY
In the event, Scenarist and Director Safa Önal and Yılmaz Atadeniz shared their experiences with young communicators. Having worked with artists like Ayhan Işık, Türkan Şoray, Yılmaz Güney and master directors like Lütfi Akad, Atadeniz and Önal evaluated present condition of Turkish cinema after narrating how they had entered into the profession and their memories.
Beginning to the cinema as a mounter along with his brother and gaining a place in Turkish cinema by directing movies like “Yedi Kocalı Hürmüz”, “Dağların Oğlu”, “Kovboy Ali”, “Kadı Han”, “Kalleş Adam”, Atadeniz said that young director candidates should not begin without analysing how the previous directors’ movies met with people. Asserting that audience’s response can never be known, Yılmaz asserted that film-making is the biggest gamble of the world and emphasized that solution is to measure audience’s expectation therefore racking brains is necessary.
Entering into Guiness Book of Records as scenarist whose scenarios shot most, Önal said that jury is the audience according to him. Then Önal talked about Yeşilcam movies with his own experiences.
Programme ended with a discussion between famous scenarist and students about today’s cinema.
