Decision no. 2017/62 dated 07 December 2017 of the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education and Professor of Radio, Television and Cinema Department at the Dean of the Communication Faculty of IU. Dr. Ergün Yolcu was appointed.
The period of 2013-2017 IU Faculty of Communication Dean Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Sezer handed over deanery to Dean Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu. Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Sezer spoke at first on deanery handover ceremony. Sezer began her speech with thanking to academic and administrative staff that working together throughout the task. Sezer said that “Ergün Yolcu has done so many successful things for our faculty and university and he will keep doing that. I support our Proffesor, congratulate him and wish him success. Since we were in the School of Press and Broadcasting we had the same thought: There is no ‘I’, there is ‘we’. We are there and we will always be there.”
After her speaking, Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu gave a plaquet to Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Sezer. Prof. Dr. Sezer said “I was not so excited when I was appointed Dean and took over the Dean. We know that our faculty will be in good hands. I wish them good luck”. Then Prof. Dr. Sezer also presented to Prof. Dr. Yolcu a plaque.
“We will work and grow together”
Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu said, ” I thank to our Proffesor on behalf of you. She was our dean while Turkey was having bad times. It is both honor and pride for me to take over the deanery from her. I had a slogan with Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Sezer: ‘You are the dean and you are the dean assistant. My doors are open to you all the way.”
He said that he always felt the power of being a member of the Istanbul University and added to his speech: “I have rewarded for my efforts. When you work, you get good responses even you did not ask for something; sometimes with a thank, sometimes with a pray, sometimes with just a smile. That was enough for me. Sometimes friendship, sometimes I get help from the place I never expected, they all gave me a great support”.
Prof Dr. Yolcu said “In my business life, the first thing I care about is working. The second most important thing is working with say coworkers in IU Faculty of Communication. It is not possible to do anything alone but we can achieve them if we are together”.
After that, Prof. Dr. Yolcu kept on talking “Nobody can be happiier than me if we could sign a good work for all of us, especially our students, by working hard and working hard with courage, just following the truth as a scientist” and he thanked his family and IU Faculty of Communication for great support.
Ceremony was completed with a collective photo shoot.
